Sandalwood, Santalum Album, essential oil is extracted from the heartwood of the sandalwood tree using steam distillation. It has a warm, woody aroma and is used in perfumes, incense, and as a natural remedy for various ailments. Sandalwood essential oil has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and astringent properties that make it beneficial for skin care, particularly for dry, mature, and sensitive skin. It also has calming and grounding effects on the mind and can be used in aromatherapy to reduce stress and anxiety. Sandalwood oil is used in many traditional medicines to treat respiratory and urinary tract infections, skin problems, and as a diuretic.

It is generally considered safe for topical and aromatherapy use, but it is always recommended to do a patch test before using it topically, and use it in moderate amount.
